Welcome to Fifi + Hop, a travel blog dedicated to unique destination recommendations within the United States, international vacation reviews and travel tips. We have a focus on family travel and trips and vacations with kids, as well as those get-aways without. We all know how important child-free trips can be!
______
My name is Corey and I am the founder of Fifi + Hop. I have always loved to travel, ever since I was a young teenager when I did a summer volunteer program in Greece. I later spent a college semester abroad in Spain, getting a job so that I could stay a few months longer that summer. In my early 20’s I did a work abroad program in Costa Rica, traveling around the country as well as some other parts of Latin America. In my late 20’s and early 30’s I worked at MoMA in New York City and helped run a private membership group, where we took our members around the world to art biennials and events. Travel has always been a part of who I am. And then I got married and had kids! But that didn’t stop me…
You see, life with kids doesnβt have to hinder your pre-parenting wanderlust – whether it be your own back yard or beyond, there is so much to be seen, and so much to show our children. More and more people are traveling with young kids than ever before. Just look at New York City – what used to be a seedy Times Square has now become a family vacation and destination mecca. From cities to historic towns, from art spaces to cultural sites, from the coast to the mountains to the countryside, there are so many places waiting to be explored by the whole family.
I am a big advocate of local travel as much as further afar in the United States and Abroad. My grandparents were world-class travelers but had a saying: “get to know your own country first”. While I love to travel internationally, I hear their point! Especially living in a place like the United States, where there is so much to explore. My goal for this blog is to be a travel resource for places both near and far, and trips small and big.
Thank you for reading and I hope you find Fifi + Hop helpful, inspiring and fun!
Feel free to get in touch with me anytime, as well as through my social media channels below.

You would have a lot of travel opportunities in your area. Our family has loved spending time in NYC and I, of course, am passionate about New England, particularly Vermont. And someday… when they are older, you can get them to Machu Picchu. (We just did this this last summer and it was a huge hit but one was a tween and the others were teens.) it will happen but in the meantime, travel at home is also very rewarding! Happy travels, Cheryl and the Family C

Yes, New England is beautiful. I will have to check out Machu Picchu on your blog.
It’s funny, my husband and I have both decided we want to explore the US much more… so your posts will be very inspirational for me. I look forward to planning via your recommendations! π

LOVE this! What a fantastic concept and theme for a blog! My husband and I are just now entertaining the idea of having kids, and the sacrifice of giving up travel and exploring our region of the US is not something we look forward to. I can’t wait to read more and get some great ideas!! π

Thanks so much Cristina! And exciting you’re thinking about starting a family! I think you’ll find that once you have kids – a life-changing event no doubt – you’ll still be able to adventure and explore, it will just be different and tailored to the kids. But it doesn’t mean it has to stop. Though the baby years are tough indeed. Thanks for reading and I look forward to reading much more of your blog too :).
Loved you pictures of Italy, hope to visit there maybe this next summer, might even take the grandson.

Thank so much – your grandson would love it, hope you make it.
Great idea for a blog – there are so many interesting places to visit in the world and you can often find them locally. We always went on lots of outings and activities when our 2 girls were growing up – we didn’t necessarily have to travel far to have a great time! We also managed trips further afield too so it can be done! Thanks for visiting and following my blog, Le Chic En Rose and I’ll sign up to follow yours too, best wishes Rosemary π

I live on Long Island and I feel like our area is so devoid of good family blogs. not sure what part of NYC you are near. look forward to reading more!

I was just talking about Long Island with someone the other day and how I really need to explore the North Fork. That’s interesting there’s not many family blogs there, I wonder why? I feel like there are family blogs everywhere these days, for better or worse! π
