New Series! FARAWAY FILES #55

FARAWAY FILES #55

I’m thrilled to share I have just recently joined the travel link-up, Faraway Files, as Co-Host, and this is my first day co-hosting!

Many of you may be asking, what is Faraway Files? It’s a weekly travel link-up hosted by Clare with Suitcases and Sandcastles, Erin with Oregon Girl Around the World, Katy with Untold Morsels and Hilary with Hilary Style, where travel bloggers from around the world can link up their posts for others to read. It’s an amazing resource that everyone can enjoy – both travel writers and travel-loving readers.

It’s fitting that my first day as co-host should fall on Thanksgiving (Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans out there!), because I have so much to be thankful for in regards to Faraway Files. Firstly, I’m so thankful the other hosts invited me to join! It’s a real honor, as each of their blogs I have been reading for a while now and highly respect.

Secondly, the Faraway Files community has been a huge source of inspiration for me. Each week I am able to read other writers’ posts from far and wide. I’ve read about places I didn’t even know existed before, and places around the corner from me (such as NYC). I’ve made connections and friends and look forward to the whole experience each week.

For those of you who don’t know me, I live with my family of 4 in the suburbs of New York City, and write the travel blog fifi + hop. I’ve always loved to travel and often day-dreamed in college of being a travel writer…and finally doing it.

Each time I co-host, I’ll be sharing my favorite posts from the week before. I loved reading Cordoba – An Andalusian Gem by Connie Consumes and her foodie experiences. I agree that all too often Cordoba is overshadowed by Seville and Granada, but it’s a jewel of a city and one to be explored.

A weekend in Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea by Bright Lights of America drew me in right away as this gorgeous part of America I consider a must-see. I learned some new things, such as there being a Salvador Dali museum located there. Who knew.

I was mesmerized by the photos in How to Spend Three Days in the Scottish Highlands by Born Explorers, a place I still have yet to visit.

This week I’m linking up my most recent post on Mallorca, the enchanting village of Deia. The Webster Dictionary might as well insert Deia under the definition of paradise, because that’s what it is.

Now on to the link-up details:

Welcome to Faraway Files, the travel link up hosted by and Clare from Suitcases and Sandcastles, Erin from Oregon Girl Around the World, Katy from Untold Morsels, Hilary from Hilary Style and Corey with fifi + hop.

This is the place to link up your travel posts every Thursday. Faraway Files is a weekly file of the best travel ideas on the web. We want to dream of faraway places, to make new travel plans and share our travel secrets. Inspire us to travel to places we’ve never considered before or revisit a place we thought we knew. We know that you can feel faraway even when you’re close to home so share your experiences of travels near and far wherever you are in the world.

We love our link up and the supportive community we’ve created. If you join in, please reciprocate and comment on the hosts’ posts as well as any others that take your eye. If we see a pattern of people not joining in, we have decided that it’s fairest to all of us to remove the links of those posters.

So let’s inspire and share each other’s posts. We’ll try to read and comment on every post and we’ll share them on social media too. Each week we’ll choose our favourites and highlight them on our blogs and social media channels using #FarawayFiles.

How it works:

  • Link up one travel-related post and add the Faraway Files badge onto the post or your blog (code below) or link back to the hosts.
  • The link up will go live every Thursday at 8am, UK time, until midnight on Friday. It will alternate between Untold Morsels, Suitcases and Sandcastles, Oregon Girl around the World, Hilary Style and fifi + hop. This week’s link up is with Suitcases and Sandcastles here.
  • Link ups work best if everyone shares so please comment on the current hosts’ posts and at least one other.
  • Tweet us your posts ( @fifi_and_hop, @suitandsand, @UntoldMorsels, @oregongirlworld, @Hilarystyleme) using the hashtag #FarawayFiles and we’ll retweet to our followers.
  • Love Instagram? Share your favourite photos from your posts with us, tagging #FarawayFiles and we’ll add our favourites to our Faraway Files Instagram feed.

Check out our Faraway Files Facebook page too.
