Some of you may have already noticed that fifi + hop has a new look, a new style – basically, a new make-over! I’ve been working the past week to bring you, my readers, a site with easier navigation and new features that will enhance your reading and viewing experience. I hope you like it!
Fifi + hop is powered by WordPress, and those in the blogosphere will know what I mean when I say that I just recently switched from WordPress.com to WordPress.org. With WordPress.org I now have much more control over the design and functionality of the website, and the flexibility to show my content exactly how I want you to see it. Most importantly, I wanted to create a new lay-out of the site so it is easier for you to look up information such as destinations and reviews. In short, fifi + hop is now more user-friendly. Part of this make-over includes small, but important features like a Search button, allowing you to look up a destination much quicker; as well as other cool viewing features, and more visible social icon buttons, should you want to follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or Twitter.
One of the most important changes I’ve made is how fifi + hop looks on a mobile device. The majority of people view websites on their phones or I pads, and fifi + hop is now much more user-friendly on smaller devices. You will find a subscribe by email button as well as a search button front and center. Navigating the destinations is just like it is now on a computer, whereas before you had to scroll through post after post on a mobile device to find what you want.
I hope you like the new fifi + hop. If you have any friends you think might enjoy the site or find it helpful, please spread the word and share!
As always, thanks so much for your readership and support!
Corey

Thanks, Clare – though I see this comment posted as 12:26 p.m. – always something!
Well that was the UK time I posted it so not all bad. 🙂

Ha – true. My U.S. friend who posted right before you had the same time so must have never switched from Pipdig..now I know :).

Thanks Amy! And tell Eric thanks for his input!;)
It looks fine to me, Corey. I don’t possess an iPad and I often wonder how my posts appear on them or on a phone come to that. Much smaller obviously 🙂 🙂 I think it’s a sensible move for you.

Thanks Jo – I think both WP.com and WP.org have their benefits. In my case, it was time for some more flexibility..
Looks great, Corey! I love the simple design. I’m thinking about moving to wordpress.org too. Is it a lot of work? Do you need to be a html pro? Because, I’m not!? I’d love to ask you more questions about your move. Can I write you an email? Thanks and congrats on your new site!! Kathrin

Hi Kathrin, thanks! I’m no html pro either so I used pipdig – based in the U.K. – for the template as well as the migration. A few other bloggers I know have used them too and highly recommended them. I know people do the migration themselves as well but it’s very technical and I was too paranoid. I’d be happy to tell you more in an email – can you email me via the contact section above? I don’t publicize my email. Talk soon :).
Just read this reply as I too am not desperately technically minded and would be very paranoid. Thanks for a recommendation.
