Winter break is almost upon us, so for those NYC locals not traveling afar, time to start planning your days out with the kids! And for those visiting the city February 13th – 21st, you are in luck! Here are four fabulous events/exhibitions that will take place in New York exclusively for Presidents Day week. Some last up to a week, while others just a couple of days, but either way they are here to help fill your vaca days with activity and fun. Catch them while they last!
#1: KidsWeek at the Intrepid (Sea, Air & Space Museum Complex) is back!
From February 15th – 20th, KidsWeek celebrates Extreme Environements. Want to learn how robots are designed for space exploration? Meet the real scientists behind them. Wonder how animals live in extreme conditions? Get a close-up look. Learn how NASA prepares astronauts to travel to outer space by researching the Earth’s climate…and so much more. #2: Presidential Superheroes at the New-York Historical Society
Going on all week from February 13th to 21st, including Monday the 15th. Note, the museum is usually closed Mondays, but open this week! Come and check out the special exhibition Superheroes in Gotham – sounds awesome! “Superheros, American heros and their fans are all gathering at the New-York Historical Society…families will travel through America’s past with programming that keeps everyone engaged”. #3: Tunes Under New York! at the New York Transit Museum
Tuesday, February 16th – Friday, February 19th. This sounds amazing! Inspired by the MTA’s annual auditions, a program called “Music Under New York”, contestants will be competing and vying for a spot to perform under their own iconic banner under a subway station. Families participate by watching the performances and judging, and even dancing alongside them! So bring your little ham and get out there for this completely unique experience! #4: Historical Figures Scavenger Hunt at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan
Sunday, February 14th and Monday, February 15th CMOM is having a live scavenger hunt! Search for historical figures, presidents from our past, first ladies and more, all in costume! Note, the museum is normally closed Mondays, but open for Presidents Day. To see more, click here.
